Practices and Goals
Consistently Utilize Sustainability Practices:
Crop rotation, use of organic pesticides, use of organic fertilizers, mulch, and composts, and use of low-till methods keep the crops raised by Season’s Harvest as sustainable as possible. A majority of our compost material is local to Berry College, and comes from leaves gathered from the campus by grounds workers.
Expand In Every Growing Season:
Since its inception, Season’s Harvest has more than doubled in size, and will hopefully expand once again in Spring 2010 to accommodate varieties of fruits to accompany spring vegetables.
Composting:
The garden provides much of its own compost, and many of our crops are tilled back into the soil.
Environmental Audit:
The activities of Season’s Harvest have been included in the environmental audit being conducted on Berry College by current Environmental Science students.
